my d.c.: pretty flowers

Sure, the point of doing this My D.C. thing is to show you what the tourists miss when they come to our city. But you have to understand that some of the perks of living in a well-trod city are just the things that the tourists also love.

Case in point? The cherry blossoms:

Blossoms

The trees line the banks of the Potomac River and the Tidal Basin. This tree sits between the two, near the entrance to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial.

Color!

And these line the route leaving it:

It wouldn’t be a D.C. shot if there weren’t construction cranes somewhere in the shot:

So D.C.

I’m so glad I came in the evening and got to see the sun setting over the Tidal Basin.

And a shot for the knitters:

The rest of the shots I uploaded from last Saturday can be seen here.

Thank you so much for sharing these. I do love seeing pictures/video of the cherry trees blooming. We are so close to our pear trees, etc. blooming here and I just love that all too brief time when the yard is full of trees with blossoms on them.

Lovely cherry blossom shots. I love seeing photos of other people’s cities. The last photo is my favorite. 🙂
