The mail has been good to me recently. A package arrived at the beginning of the month, containing goodies from my Libris Swap on Ravelry, where folks were supposed to send themed reading material and yarny goodness to another knitter.
Cate from down the road in Richmond had me and put together the best package. Shall we look inside the box?
Irish breakfast tea, Irish oats, and a mug made in Ireland. Maybe it’s an Irish author?
Hmmm… Any guesses?
Woah! This is overdoing the good luck! We have not one but three skeins of yarn: Lamb’s Pride Bulky in Periwinkle, Hemp for Knitting in Dusty Rose, and Plain and Fancy in Magenta Variegated from Sheep & Wool Co. I have never used any of them before, so am excited about the opportunity. There’s also a sheep-shaped post-it pad, sheepy bookplates, and a black sheep tape measure. And sweetest of all is a card saying that a donation was made to Heifer International to buy a share of a sheep.
But, wait! There’s more! (Although by this point, I have a suspicion. All these sheep-themed items…)
Yep! It’s Three Bags Full, which has been on my to-read list for a while. It’s a mystery told from the perspective of a flock of sheep whose shepherd has been murdered. So far it’s quite good.
Cate also included a fun postcard and a pen from her local yarn store. The pen has the contact info in case I really want more of the Plain and Fancy yarn because that’s the only place in the U.S. it’s sold. How exciting!
I’m always so lucky with swaps and end up with the best pals. Thank you, Cate, for delivering such huge smiles to the Burrow this month. I consider myself quite a lucky girl.
Getting packages in the mail is always so much fun! Looks like you made out like a bandit!
