running for choice, party, and i know you!

Three beautiful things from my past week:
1. A coworker and I surprised a young woman who’s reported to us both by making donations to support her half marathon charitable cause.
2. Getting to spend the night of my dad’s birthday with him and my mom. This was the first in-person family birthday celebration since COVID began.
3. I ran into a former colleague as I was running an errand. Since leaving the company, she’s moved to my neighborhood.
How about you? What’s been beautiful in your world lately?

laptop, cat sitter, and saying goodbye

Three beautiful things from my past week:
1. Rudi was finally able to fix my computer, which died a month ago. (It was a bad ribbon cable.) I’m so happy to have it back.
2. Rudi’s friend, Jay, has agreed to cat sit for us both while we’re away in Connecticut and while we’re in Utah.
3. I get to have drinks with my former colleague, who’s gotten her dream job and is moving across the country.

homegrown, daylight, and catching up

Three beautiful things from my past week:
1. Suppers most nights containing ingredients from the garden
2. I haven’t been great at getting out before the sun sets this week, but I have made it outside before work at least twice this week.
3. A fellow gardener and I cross paths for the first time since the spring. We sit at picnic tables in the park and catch each other up on how our summers have been.

‘you are not alone,’ gathering, and ‘it’s enough to drive you crazy if you let it’

Three beautiful things from my past week:
1. We caught a sneak preview of Dear Evan Hansen this week. While we haven’t seen the stage show, Rudi and I thought the movie was really well done.
2. I manage to organize some of our volleyball team into getting together for drinks before our doubleheader.
3. The Q Street Barbie Pond has a 9 to 5 theme going on. (I’d suggest you click through the above photo so you can zoom in on Flickr.)

doggos, waltzers, and nearly there

Three more beautiful things from my past week, because we’re in a week that demands I find the positives in life:
1. Last week was Doggie Day Swim, or, as Rudi and I call it, Pups in the Pool. Every year, after they close the pool to people, they give dog owners a chance to bring their pooches over to use it. There were about two dozen dogs, most of whom were running around the pool, rather than playing in it, but still.
2. Dancers were out practicing their waltzing at one of the nearby triangle parks one afternoon. I assume it was the social dancing group that meets at the nearby church.
3. The windshield of the car has brown leaves all over it. Fall is nearly here!
How about you? Anything beautiful in your world lately you feel like sharing?

in bloom, star power, and day game

Three beautiful things from my past week:
1. Orange and yellow daisy-type flowers continue to sprout along the verge alongside the escalator at Dupont Circle. They should be installing the glass over that escalator this fall, so this may be the last summer we get to enjoy them, the results of a guerilla gardener several years back.
2. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was an enjoyable addition to the Marvel franchise. I will tune in for almost anything that includes Awkwafina in the cast, and she did not disappoint. And we got to check out a new-to-us movie theater in D.C. at the same time.
3. I take the day off Wednesday and Rudi and I head to the ballpark for a rare weekday game. The game includes walking in two runs, at least one extremely well executed catch of a foul pop by a fan, and a loss for the home team, but who can argue with watching baseball instead of working?
