Beautiful things happen every day, but I save them up and share three of them with you on Thursdays. Here are the ones from the last week:

1. Rudi gets up before me in the mornings and I don’t arise until he’s walking out the door for work. This morning, Posey joined Jeremiah and me in bed. Jer was in his normal morning spot in the crook of my knees and Posey came and leaned against my arms and chest.

2. Our office hosted an art exhibition opening yesterday and the new girl working on that project ordered chocolate-covered strawberries as one of the hors d’oeuvres.

3. Clare, the originator of Three Beautiful Things, is back home in Tunbridge Wells after a 9 1/2 week jaunt across Africa. I’ve enjoyed her infrequent postings from the road, but am even happier to have her back posting on a daily basis. When you visit her site, check out the sidebar, where she links to beautiful things from Africa, which she saved to share with us. (I’m working my way through February now.)

Bathroom remodels, suburban Iditarod, and spousal support

This morning gave me reason to think of your three beautiful things and anticipate them, as I have three of my own.

1) Our new shower pan and vanity counters arrived today. The last time they tried to deliver them, everything was all wrong, but this morning, it was all exactly like we wanted it and quite pretty. It’s all being installed right now.

2) As we were watching the new things being unloaded from the truck, a man rode by on a scooter being pulled by a pack of fluffy wolf-like dogs. It was like a one-man San Diego Iditarod.

3) Last night I asked David how he would feel if, instead of looking for another unsatisfying corporate job, I tried my hand at being a writer full-time. It’s a scary thought for me, that leap of financial risk. There was nothing in his answer but support and acceptance that while such a move might not allow us to be as frivilous with money as we have been, the potential hardship is worth it.

GK, what great beautiful things! Not owning a home, I’m only party to the remodeling of others’, but it seems like so much can go wrong. It must be quite a relief when it goes right! And the imagery of the man is delightful — it made me laugh out loud! And David is a dear for giving you the right answer.
