D.C. offers many things, but apple trees are not, to my knowledge amongst them. (Okay, the National Arboretum or the Botanical Gardens may have a tree or two, but I bet they wouldn’t like it if I started harvesting them…)
So on Labor Day, Rudi, Sarah, and I hopped in the car for a road trip. We headed north along the Potomac to Poolesville, a farm community and the bucolic location of Homestead Farm.
We saw wildlife:
We rode in a wagon:
We picked apples:
We ate blackberry cobbler and drank root beer floats:
We talked to the animals:
We gathered blackberries:
We promised to return:
I started a My D.C. post during the Olympics, never got to it, and then each week neglected to move past it and start fresh. I hope today marks a return of this weekly feature. Others posting My D.C. features are Rudi, Sarah, MsP, and Hillary.
What great fun you had.
I just sent your two hanks of Koigu, priority of course so hopefuly Monday or Tuesday it should be in you hands.
Congratulations.

I’m looking forward to the monarch tagging at Lighthouse Park next weekend. Fingers crossed it doesn’t rain! Monarchs are such amazing creatures.
