While I no longer have a date to Mayor Fenty’s Inaugural Ball (which was rescheduled for Saturday, when Rudi will be in Utah), I do now have a shawl to wear. If I decide to go stag I knew I had a selection of dresses in my closet, but I was going to be awfully chilly. Even if I don’t go, maybe I’ll just wear a fancy dress out to the grocery store, complete with my new velvet, beaded wrap.

We had intended to watch three movies last night as part of our now-annual New Year’s Eve tradition, but timing didn’t work out and we missed the second show (The Queen). The good news is that both Dreamgirls (which we saw at the 1940s-movie-palace-style Uptown) and The Holiday were excellent and hopped into my top ten movies list for 2006: (more…)
