{"id":9409,"date":"2019-08-25T01:49:15","date_gmt":"2019-08-25T06:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spritewrites.net\/?p=9409"},"modified":"2019-08-25T04:15:06","modified_gmt":"2019-08-25T09:15:06","slug":"after-the-rain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spritewrites.net\/?p=9409","title":{"rendered":"after the rain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday, we had a sun shower: <\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/48616144747\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"Sun Shower\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48616144747_6af162d893.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Sun Shower\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>It was followed by a short regular shower, which was bookended by the evening of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spritewrites.net\/?p=9402\">two rainbows<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But the weather gods did not stop there. They had dumped out their box of 64 Crayola crayons and were excited about using them all.<\/p>\n<p>I had gone to the garden to water and then to the grocery store (hunting fruitlessly for puff pastry) and emerged onto Pennsylvania Avenue in Foggy Bottom to this sight to the east:<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/48615999606\/in\/photostream\/\" title=\"Summer Sky\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48615999606_237de44446.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Summer Sky\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>And this to the west:<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/48615652073\/in\/photostream\/\" title=\"Summer Sky\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/48615652073_f76a8eeab6.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Summer Sky\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>It felt like I was living in a Maxfield Parrish painting. (It took me a little while to come up with the correct painter, since all I had was a memory of a poster Grey Kitten had when we were teenagers of a woman with a scarf standing on a cliff. Once I stopped trying to make it a book cover (I thought maybe John Irving&#8217;s <em>Hotel New Hampshire<\/em> or Wally Lamb&#8217;s <em>She&#8217;s Come Undone<\/em>) and made it the painting it was, Google was way more helpful.
