\nBout of Books<\/a> wrapped up tonight. I didn’t quite meet all my goals, and I squeaked in a third finish just before the wire. <\/p>\n

I had six goals for the past week. Let’s see how I did:<\/p>\n

Take part in at least two challenges and at least one of the Twitter chats.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes! I missed the first chat, but woke up from my post-wedding nap to catch the one Saturday morning. And I managed two challenges, although I thought about several others.<\/p>\n

Visit at least one other Bout of Books participant\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s blog a day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Missed out big-time on this one. Didn’t visit a single blog this week.<\/p>\n

Return some of my massive pile of library books to the library.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes! I took back almost a dozen books and dvds to the library on Saturday. Most of them I hadn’t read, but will try again later. That’s what libraries are for.<\/p>\n

Read a little each day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Totally! I didn’t always read on paper, but I did read every day.<\/p>\n

Finish posting my January reviews.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nope! Maybe this week?<\/p>\n

Stretch goal: Finish three books.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, although none of them were the books that are overdue at the library. One was A Treacherous Curse<\/em>, the third in Deanna Raybourn’s Victorian lepidopterist mystery series. The second was a picture book, Brick by Brick<\/em> by Charles R. Smith Jr. with illustrations by Floyd Cooper, about the slaves who helped to build the White House. The third was a fun graphic novel\/comic collection, Goldie Vance<\/em> by Hope Larson and Brittney Williams, I picked up on Comic Book Day. It’s set in late-1950s Florida, where biracial Goldie Vance lives at a resort with her dad where she aspires to be the in-house detective. In her spare time, she hangs out with her friends, who also work at the resort, gets into mischief with ease and out with derring-do and her keen observational skills, and crushes on the cute girl who works at the record shop.<\/p>\n

All in all, not bad. I’ll be joining the next round of Bout of Books in August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
