Such are the perils of the working girl!<\/p>\n<p>What did I do while I was away, other than sit in a lot of traffic, you ask?<\/p>\n<p>We listened to two losing Nationals games while driving. This makes me think that the Nats would prefer it if I would not listen to tomorrow&#8217;s game.<\/p>\n<p>We got to be Amani and Marcus&#8217; first guests to their new home, which was all in order after a mere week of occupancy (mine would have been cluttered with boxes for<del>ever<\/del> months). They served up hot drinks, ice cream, and freshly baked scones and caught us up on all their news.<\/p>\n<p>I slept in and generally caught up on sleep. There was also a mid-day cat nap on Monday.<\/p>\n<p><center><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/30294824835\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"Strawberry Daiquiri\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c4.staticflickr.com\/6\/5829\/30294824835_549dbd59a7.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" alt=\"Strawberry Daiquiri\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I baked cookies, helped my mom peel apples for a pie, and made scones with my dad.<\/p>\n<p>We celebrated my dad&#8217;s birthday.<\/p>\n<p>I visited with Karen.<\/p>\n<p><center><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/30294810765\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"Maple Leaves\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c6.staticflickr.com\/9\/8566\/30294810765_c2453750c9.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Maple Leaves\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I admired the foliage, which was just beginning to pop along the state&#8217;s northern border. (This coming weekend will probably be lovely!)<\/p>\n<p>We watched the film <em>Sing Street<\/em>, Lin-Manuel&#8217;s appearance on <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>, the season premiere of <em>Supergirl<\/em>, and the second presidential debate. <\/p>\n<p><center><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/30260075846\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"Stafford Green during the Rain\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c7.staticflickr.com\/9\/8138\/30260075846_67ed354d24.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Stafford Green during the Rain\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I read Avi&#8217;s <em>School of the Dead<\/em>, which my dad had taken out of the library and kept so I could peruse.<\/p>\n<p>We discovered two new sources of cider doughnuts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We headed up to Connecticut for a long long weekend, the benefits of which have worn off after a mere day of being back in the office.
