The Christmas Letter<\/strong>
\n    ~John N. Morris<\/p>\n

Wherever you are when you receive this letter
\nI write to say we are still ourselves
\nIn the same place
\nAnd hop you are the same.<\/p>\n

The dead have died as you know
\nAnd will never get better,
\nAnd the children are boys and girls
\nOf their several ages and names.<\/p>\n

So in closing I send you our love
\nAnd hope to hear from you soon.
\nThere is never a time
\nLike the present. It lasts forever
\nWherever you are. As ever I remain.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Cards in each mailbox,
\nangel, manger, star and lamb,
\nas the rural carrier,
\ndriving the snowy roads,
\nhears from her bundles
\nthe plaintive bleating of sheep,
\nthe shuffle of sandals,
\nthe clopping of camels.
\nAt stop after stop,
\nshe opens the little tin door
\nand places deep in the shadows
\nthe shepherds and wise men,
\nthe donkeys lank and weary,
\nthe cow who chews and muses.
\nAnd from her Styrofoam cup,
\nwhite as a star and perched
\non the dashboard, leading her
\never into the distance,
\nthere is a hint of hazelnut,
\nand then a touch of myrrh.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
