{"id":3623,"date":"2011-09-22T01:08:38","date_gmt":"2011-09-22T06:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spritewrites.net\/?p=3623"},"modified":"2011-09-22T01:11:21","modified_gmt":"2011-09-22T06:11:21","slug":"3623","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spritewrites.net\/?p=3623","title":{"rendered":"bulky stockinette in a lacy life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes, when life is really full of details, it can help to partake in a leisure-time activity that calls for very few.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the time for delicate yarns that slip or catch and tiny needles and complicated patterning.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/5383739512\/\" title=\"IMG_0046 by kkfea, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5210\/5383739512_afc8fdace1.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"IMG_0046\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I pulled out this fantastic skein of bulky-weight yarn from Folktale Yarn (purchased last fall at Crafty Bastards) and cast on for a new hat.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it. I didn&#8217;t bother to wind the yarn. I decided instead to wear it as a necklace while knitting. When I finish knitting each night, I twist it back up into a hank and tuck the whole thing away (because a silver cat also thinks the yarn is quite fetching).<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/6171104953\/\" title=\"Yarn as Art by kkfea, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6156\/6171104953_596c13209f.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" alt=\"Yarn as Art\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I suspect the whole thing will be done tomorrow. My yarn as jewelry motif will be over, but I think I&#8217;ll have a cute toque to show off.<\/p>\n<p>A little garter stitch, a little stockinette. The yarn changes color on its own. Huge, gahonking needles. Simple. Relaxing. Low pressure.
