I was one of the final five finishers of this round and expect that the next competitive round (which won&#8217;t start until next week) will knock me out of the running. But in the meantime, I&#8217;m basking in the fact that I&#8217;ve knit three complete pairs of socks in the past five weeks. The latest pair took me a mere eight days.<\/p>\n<p>We got the pattern on Friday evening. I finished the first sock Monday night. On Tuesday evening, I cast on the second sock. It was a chilly evening at the ballpark:<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/5625456642\/\" title=\"IMG_0820_2 by kkfea, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5270\/5625456642_a7b22f28a5.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"317\" alt=\"IMG_0820_2\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>We won the game, but I didn&#8217;t get past the toe.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, when you&#8217;re knitting the second sock, you start to know the pattern a bit better, so it goes quickly. I knit Wednesday after work, but took Thursday off for another ball game. Friday, I knit, knit, knit as fast as my fingers could fly until I got so tired I started to make stupid cabling mistakes.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/5624875233\/\" title=\"IMG_0830 by kkfea, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5021\/5624875233_3144ae55a3.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" alt=\"IMG_0830\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I was not so tired that I didn&#8217;t notice, so I fixed them and toddled off to bed.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday morning, I set the alarm and got up to knit. I barely took breaks, and by teatime I had a finished pair.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/5625462852\/\" title=\"IMG_0829 by kkfea, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5148\/5625462852_625a406a11.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" alt=\"IMG_0829\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>And, just as importantly, a spot in the next round.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/5625501632\/\" title=\"IMG_0837 by kkfea, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5303\/5625501632_4ef0e24800.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" alt=\"IMG_0837\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The pattern is Dangerous Turns and the yarn is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hairballyarn.com\/\">Hairball Yarn<\/a>&#8216;s wool-bamboo-nylon blend in a coral hue. It&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spritewrites.net\/?p=2775\">one of the skeins<\/a> the dyer generously sent me after the Tour de France knit-along last year.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/5624876839\/\" title=\"IMG_0831 by kkfea, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5145\/5624876839_eb96d780b3.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"IMG_0831\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I used US1.5 circular needles for the foot and US2 dpns for the leg.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/5624911017\/\" title=\"IMG_0835 by kkfea, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5268\/5624911017_6ac3396148.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" alt=\"IMG_0835\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>And I&#8217;m very happy with how they turned out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On each successive round of Sock Madness, I am getting faster, but so are the rest of my competitors.
