(You can see my pink cone flowers are nearly done for the season.)<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/50313833868\/in\/photostream\/\" title=\"Yellow Cone Flower and Osteospermum\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50313833868_19a9df062e_w.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" alt=\"Yellow Cone Flower and Osteospermum\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>So I added some a new yellow cone flower (to the left of the squash) and a yellow osteospermum.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/50313833688\/in\/photostream\/\" title=\"Color and Heat\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50313833688_81db03a5d5_w.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" alt=\"Color and Heat\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I had a tomato plant die on me, so I had some space at the front of my strawberry patch. I tucked in a pink, a johnny jump up, and some purple pansies, as well as some Thai dragon peppers.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/50313833523\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"Chard\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50313833523_b6c9b9002e_w.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" alt=\"Chard\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/50314682402\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"Blossoming Beans\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50314682402_fa4053048f_w.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" alt=\"Blossoming Beans\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Between my front row of tomatoes and the back row, I planted beans and amaranthus a few weeks back, both of which are flowering (to my disappointment, the amaranthus seems to be a green variety). And today I tucked scarlet Swiss chard in there, too.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/50314504976\/in\/photostream\/\" title=\"Herbs\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50314504976_62e8ebb049_w.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" alt=\"Herbs\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Finally, I tucked mint, lemon verbena, and dill into the back section of the garden, which is supposed to be where the herbs live. A delivery of mulch overflowed into my plot last winter, which means I have a lot more wood in that back section than I should, but I thought the mint might be tough enough to be able to root down through it.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/spriteshoots\/50313834388\/in\/dateposted\/\" title=\"Pollinator Plot\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/50313834388_880f04c067_w.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"400\" alt=\"Pollinator Plot\"><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>In the end, I single-handedly found a spot for 26 plants, a feat which Rudi agreed merited a bowl of ice cream after supper. I tossed many harlequin beetles out of my plot (I&#8217;m just not heartless enough to squash them, even after seeing what they did to my kale), but I let the dozens of bees stay (and they rewarded this behavior by not stinging me).
