eventide, unseasonable, and recovering

Happy New Year! May 2021 bring a return of the things we miss the most.

Here are three beautiful things that I was lucky enough not miss this past week:

1. A most breathtaking sunset, full of oranges and purples.

2. Eating lunch in the park on a warm afternoon with a book, a thermos of tea, and an ever-diminishing pile of correspondence.

3. My brother texts to say he and his partner been diagnosed with COVID-19, but were already out of quarantine and on the mend.

How about you? What’s was beautiful in your world as you rounded out 2020?

You had me worried for a moment when you said your brother and his partner had caught Covid, and I’m so glad that that news ends on a positive note.

As for what’s beautiful in my world, it still feels Christmassy here. The decorations are still up, and I’ve been playing Christmas tunes on the piano all week, because I got a new book of seasonal sheet music and I didn’t want to wait until next year to use it. Christmas cards continue to trickle in by mail, and today we got a few more presents. Christmas can stay as long as it likes, as far as I’m concerned.
