turrets, coming in from the cold, and citrus
posted by soe 11:38 pm

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time to look back at three beautiful things from the past week. Here are mine:

1. After being lit in Christmas colors back in December (for the first time, I’m pretty sure), the turrets of the building north of Franklin Square are seasonally appropriate once again this week, bedecked in white and red for Valentine’s Day.

2. Twice this last week, I’ve walked home from work wearing inadequate clothing for the temperatures. Feeling the warmth come seeping back into my limbs after I reach the Burrow is delightful.

3. A bag of clementines make the kitchen smell particularly nice.

So, how about you? What’s been beautiful in your world this week?

Category: three beautiful things. There is/are 4 Comments.

1. Watching the sunrise over Loveland Pass in Colorado, while being able to swing my view 180 degrees and see the sunlight hit the Ten Mile Range, illuminating clouds that seem to be snagged atop the craggy peaks.

2. Giving back to the sport I love by helping coach a ski camp in Colorado. The five racers I coached all improved quite a bit over the two days I had them under my wing, with two of them getting top-5 times for the weekend and one winning the “best performance under adverse conditions award.

3. Returning to The Burrow on Wednesday night with sprite, having all four cats say hello in their own way. It’s great to be home.

Ah, citrus! My gourmet, gourmand, foodie self lives for this time of year. Not eating oranges but juicing oranges. I’m drinking Florida juicers, and Florida tangelos, and looking out for my favorite of all, Temples. I could live on the stuff.

@Rudi: Three good choices. I was particularly fond of the final item.

@Nan: I’m totally jealous. There isn’t much that’s better than fresh-squeezed orange juice.
