sunday market basket
posted by soe 10:51 pm

A peek in the basket after the first farmers’ market of May:

  • Morels
  • Asparagus
  • Ramps
  • Rhubarb
  • Mesclun mix
  • Baby zucchini (The farmers are growing them vertically in bags in their unheated greenhouse to harvest earlier.)
  • Celeriac
  • A greenhouse tomato
  • An onion
  • Blueberry scones
  • Milk — plain and chocolate

Yum!

Tomorrow I’ll share updates and photos from Passport D.C. and the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival.

And the ramps will come in handy if you have to crawl under your car… Aren’t morels eels? where will you keep them? The cats are probably happy about the new pets.

Are there seeds to plant blueberry scones? 🙂 Love them.

@Nan: Thank you!

@DOD: I’m leaving those eels in the kitchen sink so they’ll wash the dishes for me and entertain the cats at the same time.

@Debby: You mean you don’t already have a scone bush in your backyard?
