Dear soe,

Pause the next time you think to yourself, “Wow, that garbage stinks. I should really take it out.”

It’s true; you eat a lot of fresh vegetables and you don’t have a compost bin or a garbage disposal. So, it could be your trash.

But is it possible it’s not the garbage at all? Could you be overlooking something crucial? Could it be staring you in the face?

Could it be that asparagus should, in fact, be refrigerated, even if it is standing in a cup of water? Could that stench possibly suggest that your vegetables are rotting on top of the fridge?

Think about it for a second and I think you’ll agree you might have missed something important…

Honestly… you’ll thank me.

Truly,
soe

Hehe – oops! after doing that once, our asparagus now lives in a cup on water IN the fridge, and we haven’t noticed any change in flavour!

Ouch! And there’s about nothing that rivals the smell of bad asparagus.

Bad mushrooms come close to the smell of bad asparagus…
Oops!

Sarah, I didn’t realize mushrooms smelled, although that’s probably naive of me. Ours just usually dry out.

Kim, and it was my own fault, too, since I put them up there, meaning to move them…

Jenn, ours normally lives in the fridge, too. I had meant for their location to be temporary until I cooked the previous asparagus, but when I took that out, I forgot to move the new stuff in!
