movie meme for monday
posted by soe 10:35 am

I spent a lovely weekend playing with friends around town. This means I have a camera-load of photos to upload tonight — kites and blossoms and animals. Check back later in the week for them.

In the meantime, this meme is floating around the blogosphere and it looked fun:

1. Name a movie you have seen more than 10 times. The Wizard of Oz

2. Name a movie you’ve seen multiple times in the theater. While You Were Sleeping

3. Name an actor who would make you more inclined to see a movie. Johnny Depp

4. Name an actor who would make you less likely to see a movie. Woody Allen

5. Name a movie you can and do quote from. Princess Bride and Napoleon Dynamite

6. Name a movie musical in which you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs. The Muppet Movie

7. Name a movie you have been known to sing along with. Any movie that features music in it. It runs in the family. Although answering this question now has “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing running through my mind.

8. Name a movie you would recommend everyone see. The Thin Man. It has comedy; it has drama. It has characters with chemistry. And it has killer writing.

9. Name a movie you own. Benny and Joon

10. Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops. Jon Bon Jovi. Queen Latifah. The Wahlbergs.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what? Tons, although the Southington Drive-In seems to have been another institution that couldn’t survive our move out-of-state. The first drive-in movie I remember was a double feature of 101 Dalmations and one of the Herbie movies — Herbie Goes Bananas, maybe? The last one was a double feature of Notting Hill and October Sky, that we watched through the pouring rain.

12. Ever made out in a movie? Yes.

13. Name a movie you keep meaning to see but you just haven’t gotten around to yet. Edward Scissorhands. Are you shocked?

14. Ever walked out of a movie? No, but there are a couple I wish I had.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater. The English Patient made me sob so hard and long that Rudi realized I should never watch another movie that is set during wartime. And The Joy Luck Club had me weeping buckets when they showed it at Conn. The first movie I remember crying at was Amy, a Disney movie involves a train accident.

16. Popcorn? Always, with lots of salt and butter.

17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)? Once a month? Although it was three times in March…

18. What’s the last movie you saw in the theater? The Namesake this weekend. It was almost as good as the book.

19. What’s your favorite/preferred genre of movie? Renditions of Jane Austen novels? Witty comedy/literate drama.

20. What’s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater? I’m thinking it might have been The Small One. I remember going with Mum to see a movie, just the two of us. Or maybe Pete’s Dragon? Mum, any recollection?

21. What movie do you wish you had never seen? Titanic

22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed? The Triplets of Belleville

23. What is the scariest movie you’ve seen? I don’t like scary movies. So, you will probably laugh to see that it’s Practical Magic.

24. What is the funniest movie you’ve seen? Anything by the Marx Brothers.
